Sudan threatens to expel humanitarian organizations


The Darfur conflict erupted in February 2003 and has already caused an estimated 300,000 dead and 2.5 million displaced. There have been phases of negotiations between the government and groups rebels since 2004, but has not yet signed a comprehensive peace agreement.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has authorized the governors of three provinces in the western region of Darfur to expel all international humanitarian organizations, including UN agencies, in the case of not complying with limits set for them.

Sudanese President called the governors of Darfur than any international organization that exceeds the limits of its mandate "pops out the same day."
added that the mandate should also comply with UN agencies or organizations of the African Union "to UNAMID, the peacekeeping force joint UN and African Union.

Al Bashir is the only head of state to be required by the International Criminal Court (ICC), to stand trial for assassination, war crimes and crimes against humanity, precisely because of its role in the armed conflict in Darfur.

Al Bashir, who came to power in a coup that led the June 30, 1989, announced the expulsion on the same day that the ICC issued a warrant for his arrest to answer for the allegations raised in this international tribunal.
