A total of 1,271 civilians have died victims of Afghan conflict in the first half of this year, has informed the UN Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
The UN report revealed that during the first six months of 2010 there were a total of 3,268 civilian casualties, including dead and wounded-, representing an increase of 31% over the same period 2009.
Specifically, the international organization noted that in the first four months of the year there had been a 94% increase in incidents involving improvised explosive devices over the same period in 2009.
Children are those who have left worse off since January 2010. The United Nations says the number of children killed or injured increased by 55% compared with the same period last year.
